2000-2003 “A Father’s Heart”

Early in 2000, Five Talent Films Inc. not only got its name but also took its first steps. Looking back our first movie was A Father’s Heart. It was 53 minute movie about a prodigal son which received its inspiration from, of all sources, an Elton John song. Starng in the movie were, Kenny and Karen Jezek who at one time lived large in the Hollywood spotlight on soap operas, Days of our Lives (Kenny) and Rituals and Capital (Karen), not to mention various T.V. appearances on Fame, St. Elmo’s Fire and Hill Street Blues. Oh, did I mention the Broadway shows like Cats and 42nd Street and movies Fast Forward and Pretty in Pink. Where do people get this much talent? Well, needless to say, A Father’s Heart had things going for it besides great acting. The story itself was an emotional one that surely caused the viewer to think about relationships between parents and children. But my personal experience in producing and directing was almost non-existent. A Father’s Heart went on to win a Third Place at The Accolade Competition Film and Television festival 2003 in La Jolla, California. This told me two things: first, God approved of our first movie and second, 3rd place? We’ve got some work to do!

2004-2006 “The Choice”

In 2006 I submitted a film entitled The Choice to the same film festival. This movie was 1 hour and 14 minutes long. But something was happening besides the 2nd place win we received at Accolade and a featured showing at the WYSIWYG Christian Film Festival in San Francisco. I was beginning to discover the type of Christian movie that I wanted to make. The Choice was about a boy who believed he was responsible for the deaths of 2 friends and his younger brother. The young boy grew up believing this. He left his faith to die that cold night in the desert. But the story doesn’t end there as his friends return to him to bring him back to the child like faith that God has called us to. The Choice went on to be shown at 3 Harkins Theaters, one in Phoenix, Scottsdale and Mesa Arizona for a total of 16 showings. Five Talent Films Inc. not only paid their bill to Harkins but made enough to move on to the next movie, My Angel.

2007-2009 “My Angel”

A couple of my favorite movies are Signs and Frequency. I can really get into watching movies like these. They make me think every minute I’m in the theater. I believe that good film making creates for the viewer a situation where he or she feels and lives everything that the characters are feeling and living. But there is also something else that is very important to me. The movies that I will continue to make will be ones that give God the credit for the supernatural events that take place in the story. All too often “demons”, “aliens” and natural phenomenon seem to be the source of all that is powerful. Five Talent Films will write and produce with our sights higher than that. While writing and producing this movie, I have had the privilege of meeting two very talented people who have shown more than an interest in My Angel. Dave Johnson and Tim Blore are two actors, who, like me, wish to express their faith in making Christian movies. Because of their desire, commitment and friendship they have secured roles in our next feature film which is presently being penned on Final Draft. I’m glad to have these guys on board as we humbly figure this out together.

My Angel is now the featured project on this site, hopefully the first of many. This year we will be back at the theaters, back at the festival to see if our positive trend will continue. We will be selling copies of My Angel not only on this site but Christian bookstores too. Order your copy today, grow with us and begin making Five Talent Films productions a part of your annual entertainment.
